male mallard

This is my favorite mallard photo that I shot this year.

I finally got close enough to take a bunch of photos of them swimming without the ducks flying off.

This male mallard wasn't very trusting but I sat on the beach for a while and he swam near me eventually.

    Great shot. Ducks can be fickle. Sometimes they like people, and sometimes they don't. I've had them swim right up to me begging for food, but lately they seem to be antisocial. Maybe it's the time of year. I really like the way the male mallards look.

    It was just the opposite for me this year, but I now have some techniques(mostly patients) that I can use to get some good quality photos next year.
