It snowed last night so I went out to get some shots of snow and winter landscapes. Instead I ended up getting some more "fall color" shots.
The ice has started to cover the bays but the main lake is still open. I even saw a few mallards swimming around out there.
In a few weeks I should be able to walk out on the lake to do some ice fishing.
This is a great shot. The water hasn't started to freeze yet here. I took a photo of something strange looking in a creek, and it turned out to be a leaf. The camera saw it better than I did.
ReplyDeleteNicely done. It's a really different perspective...like you said...not something you get to see every day. Beautiful shot.
ReplyDelete@Ratty: Thanks, I had some fun out hiking today.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy when I take a picture and find out that it looks much different than what I imagined - sometimes it's a good thing and sometimes it isn't.
@Erik: Thanks, I'm happy with how it turned out.
ReplyDeleteWow, What a shot! The frozen leaf touched me deeply indeed. Your shot TALKS - it looks so symbolical - WOW!
ReplyDeleteThanks once again
Thanks candleday, it looks almost like it's frozen in time.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting.
Great photo, interesting range of colours and forms, really captures the autumnal scene well and the depth of field. Is it a leaf from the Mahonia shrub?
ReplyDeleteWell done again Evan, more proof of your eye for interesting details. Owen

ReplyDeleteVery nice. It's good that although you went out looking for one thing, you were open to something else. You have to stay open minded in photography. You don't always get to pick your subject.
ReplyDeleteYou're a great photographer, keep up the good work!
ReplyDelete@Owen: thanks, it's strange that one of my favorite "fall shots" is actually from winter..
ReplyDeleteI think it's an oak leaf but it's been a while since I was any good at identifying trees/plants without doubt.
@sergentehartman: That would have been a much better name for the photo, thanks.
ReplyDelete"Crystallized Former-life"
@Ken: this is very true and I probably wouldn't have any half way decent shots if I wasn't open to other options.
ReplyDeleteThe best photo I have that proves this point is "bottoms up."
@Timothy: thanks, I really enjoy it and have learned some valuable lessons that apply elsewhere too.
ReplyDeleteThat is pretty darn cool picture there!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jamie
ReplyDeleteThats an awesome photo Evan. A friend of mine is starting to take up Photography in her spare time, so I think I'll send her a link to here and let her have a look at some of your pretty awesome photos :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Wiggy,
ReplyDeleteThere's a link to a good video in my "photography related links" page.
It covers a lot of topics and gives you lots of ideas for amazing images.
its awesome to see nature's different forms of faces in each season. thanx for giving some winter icy snaps, for it never snows in my place rather than raining.
ReplyDeleteNo problem Kerala, we have more than enough snow and cold to go around.
