Robinson Park Ice Climbing

A few weeks ago I went to an ice climbing seminar for the Minneapolis area. They had a giveaway for a one day lesson in the Sandstone, MN ice quarry/park and I won.

I had done a little ice climbing previously, but this was a great learning opportunity. The ice was amazing, with blue, green and red hues, large chandeliers and everything!

I hope to get out climbing more this winter, I also found out that the U of M rents ice gear.

  5. Beautiful photo

Good to know that you like ice climbing. I am hoping to get leave in march for a 1 month course in mountaineering.

I have never heard about these 1 day sessions.

  6. Thanks Zanil, I think I need to take some more time and try a little HDR next time.

The 1 day session is a little easier for just learning technical ice climbing. We drove right up to the base of the crag, hahah.

  9. Always wanted to try ice climbing. Age has tempered the desire, but it still lingers. Great photo, by the way.
